Sr Principal Design – Sunnyvale

A new generation of converged handheld devices are appearing with cellular phone, digital camera, camcorder and TV functionality all combined. The Broadcom family of Mobile Application Processors (BCM2820) and Mobile Multimedia Processors (BCM2722 and family) have been designed to address this convergence with their high-performance programmable multimedia and graphics capability at minimum power consumption. High performance 3D graphics implementation enables powerful User Interfaces and games development.These devices are in high volume production with top handheld media players.In this role you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, testing, and documenting low level modules of mobile application processor software.You will be responsible for the following: Designing and developing software including device drivers for different modules of application processors Work with IC team for architecture definition Designing and developing stress tests and performance profiling software Document the design and present to the development and marketing team Requirements:Typically requires a BS degree and 9 years of experience, an MS degree and 6 years of experience or a PhD and 3 years of experience Experience in software development for embedded systems and experience with low level system software and/or device drivers. Proficient in C. Experience in Linux Kernel and/or Linux Driver development or Windows Mobile/CE or Symbian is required Experience in the use of Source Code Control Management Systems and Bug tracking systems. Knowledge of computer architecture - DMA, Interrupts, Memory management, Cache management is required. Good communication and documentation skills are required. Exposure to other OS including RTOS is a plus Experience in mobile software development is a plus. Experience in USB or SD protocol, and NAND is a plus Experience in ARM is a plus. Dynamic power management is a plus.
